CONTEST MECHANICS
Write a novel which:
- Must relate to Malaysia in one way or another.
Participants must submit a completed novel whose minimum length is 100 pages (A4) and which: will be in a computer generated format; possesses a 12 size font; utilizes 1.5 line spacing; and originally written in the Tamil language.
Submissions will be accepted only by mail and must be the original work of the participants.
The participants, who emerge as winner, will be given an opportunity to enter into an arrangement with the Organizer for the usage and exploitation of all aspect of the novel entered by the winning participant.
The Organizer and the participant shall discuss and mutually agree upon the terms & conditions for such usage and exploitation.
Winning authors also are required to submit their novel on computer discs or “floppy Diskettes” to the Organizer.
The selections of the Organizers’ contest judges are final.
All entries will be judged using a set of criteria developed by our panel of judges.
The participants must submit an application form (see attached below) along with their novel.

Rules & Regulations
This contest is open to all Malaysian citizens who are 18 years old and above only.
Contest Period: 1 April 2007 – 30 June 2007
Contest submissions must be postmarked no later than the 30th June 2007.
The grand prize winner of “Tamil Novel Writing Contest 1” (which organized by Astro Vaanavil in the year of 2004) is not eligible to participate in this contest.
The Organizer reserves the right to extend or adjust the entry deadline or other contest dates at any time, and without prior notice.
All of the Organizer’s employees or any of their subsidiaries or affiliates, sponsors, advertisers and public relation agencies, dealers, retailers and/or any companies or staff(s) associated with the management and organizers of the contest are not eligible to participate in this contest.
Participants must not have entered into any prior option or sale agreement with respect to their submitted work.
The Organizer shall, at his own discretion, determine the winner(s) based on the literary and social merits of the novel and all of the decisions made by the panel judges of the contest shall be final.
The participants hereby undertake to warrant that his or her submissions are original and not derivatives or an adaptation of an existing work.
In the event that a participant’s contribution is determined by the Organizer not to be original, not derivatives or an adaptation of an existing work and unique to the participant, the Organizer reserves the rights to immediately disqualify the participant from further participation in the contest.
In addition, any participant who fails and/or refuses to comply with and/or observe any of the rules (in the sole opinion of the Organizer) shall be disqualified from further participation in this contest or disqualified from receiving any prizes as winners (where applicable).
The participant further undertakes to agree that all rights and clearances required for any use of the participant’s contribution on and or all mediums, means or manner in existence, and hereinafter devised, will be automatically assigned to the Organizer upon the entry.
In the event that the participant emerges as a winner in the contest, the said participant (winners) shall be entitled to one (1) prize only to be determined solely by the Organizer.
The Organizer further reserves the right to replace, change and alter any of the prize(s) without prior notice to the winner.
The first 3 winners hereby agree to the transfer of the first rights of publishing (including copyright) for one year to the Organizer and agrees that the Organizer shall be entitled to exploit the said participant’s contributions via all means, manner and mediums (including print, the internet and all forms of television) now known or hereafter created without further consideration, payment, royalty to the contributions, save and except for credited mentions as determined by the Organizer.
The participant further agrees that the Organizer shall be entitled to record, use and exploit the participant’s name, likeness and/or voice in any programme or interviews to be produced or conducted in relation to this contest without further consideration, payment, royalties to the contributions, save and except for credited mentions as determined by the Organizer.
The prize cannot be exchanged with any other prizes and in the event that the winner fails to collect the prizes within 3 months of the date of notification for the contest, the winner agrees to waive his/her right to his/her prize.
